Zig Zag Lace Scarf & Stole

A simple lace pattern with optional pattern repeats yields endless scarf possibilities. Knit with

almost any weight yarn using the same set of instructions and you have a beautiful scarf for any occasion! The large rectangular stole knit in fingering weight uses the same zig zag motif with coordinating borders. The gauge and finished sizes of these scarves is not critical. The shorter scarves look great simply draped around the neck with a jacket or sweater and are surprisingly warm when worn this way. They are still long enough for a jaunty knot at the neck. Make sure your needle size is larger than you would normally use for your yarn for a lacey scarf. Variegated yarns will ripple and create interesting, secondary patterns.
